TRADING THE FLOOR FOR THE FIRE.

TRADING THE FLOOR FOR THE FIRE.

TRADING THE FLOOR FOR THE FIRE.

From South African dealership floors to the pursuit of international marine engineering. Documenting the grit, the obsession and the journey.

WHY I’M LEAVING THE COMFORT ZONE AND CHASING THE GLOBAL HUSTLE

Most people spend their lives building a comfort zone, settling into a routine and hoping nothing changes.

I’m choosing a different path.

I’m Don. Since the age of 17, I’ve built my career from the ground up in the automotive retail industry. I started as a part-time Sales Intern during my matric year, worked as a Recon Clerk overseeing vehicle preparation, progressed into a full-cycle Sales Consultant role and eventually stepped up as a Team Leader.

I’ve spent years surrounded by horsepower, petrol fumes and the high-pressure world of the dealership floor. The industry taught me how to read people, handle rejection, solve problems, maintain quality standards and understand what it takes to perform when the pressure is on.

That experience gave me a foundation. But I’ve reached a point where I want to challenge myself in a completely different environment.

I’m ready for the next chapter.

Cars Are the Blood in My Veins

Cars have always been more than a job to me. They’re a genuine passion.

I’m not just interested in showroom finishes or reading specification sheets. What fascinates me is the mechanical reality behind the machine: how components work together, how problems are diagnosed and how engineering turns individual parts into something extraordinary.

There’s something satisfying about understanding how a machine works, getting hands-on and figuring out what needs to be done.

My automotive career has given me an appreciation for the standards, precision and attention to detail required to prepare vehicles for delivery. But my curiosity extends beyond the showroom. I want to explore engineering, modifications, performance and the mechanical craftsmanship that make cars so compelling.

From everyday vehicles to high-performance machines, there’s always something more to learn.

And I’m only getting started.

The Next Chapter: Taking My Passion to Sea

I’m building this platform around a major transition: leaving behind a career I’ve spent years developing in South Africa to pursue opportunities in the international yachting industry.

My long-term ambition is to develop a career in marine engineering, working with the complex machinery and systems that keep yachts and vessels operating.

I’m not a qualified marine engineer, and I’m not going to pretend otherwise. I’m at the beginning of this journey, building the relevant experience, training and knowledge required to progress.

What I bring is an automotive background, practical exposure to vehicle preparation and quality control, a genuine interest in mechanical systems, and the willingness to start at the bottom and learn.

Moving from automotive retail towards marine engineering is a significant transition. The environments, responsibilities and systems are different, and there’s a great deal I still need to learn. That’s part of what makes the challenge worth pursuing.

Although my ambitions are international, South Africa will always be home. This is where I built my foundation, developed my work ethic and learned to push myself. I want to explore opportunities beyond our borders without losing my connection to the country that shaped me.

I’m not claiming to have everything figured out. There will be setbacks, difficult decisions, financial considerations and moments of uncertainty. I’m building this next chapter one step at a time, and I intend to document the reality rather than just the highlights.

My motto is simple:

Cars. Yachting. Adventure. Ambition.

The journey never stops.

No Filters. No Pretending. Follow the Journey.

The internet is full of polished success stories. What interests me is everything that happens before the success.

This platform is a documentary of ambition, learning and progress. It’s about showing the work behind building a different life, rather than pretending the outcome is guaranteed.

While I’m in South Africa, expect automotive content, car culture, performance builds, drift events and an honest look at the industry I’ve worked in. I want to explore the machines, people and stories that make the automotive world what it is.

As my journey develops internationally, the focus will expand to yachting, marine machinery, new environments, unfamiliar challenges and the process of working towards a career in marine engineering.

The goal isn’t to pretend I know everything. It’s to learn, ask questions, improve and share what I’m able to show along the way.

Professionalism comes first. Any automotive collaborations, media-fleet projects or maritime content will respect the relevant permissions, safety requirements, confidentiality and operational rules. No video is worth compromising safety or professional trust.

You’ll see the progress, the setbacks, the lessons and the work that goes into moving forward. Some chapters will look impressive; others will simply involve showing up, learning something new and trying again.

I’m not presenting myself as a finished success story. I’m documenting the process of trying to build one.

If you’re interested in cars, machinery, yachting or the ambition to take your life in a new direction, you’re welcome to follow along.

The next chapter starts here.

Let’s see where the journey takes us.
